On May 2, 2023, the US Dept of Transportation updated 49 CFR Part 40 which is the USDOT drug and alcohol testing regulation. Rutherford County Transit falls under this regulation due to receipt of federal funds through the USDOT. On October 2, 2023, the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners approved an addendum (attached) to the current policy per this update to the regulation. This addendum was specific to the use of oral fluid specimen for drug testing. Rutherford County Transit is now seeking approval of the entire revised policy as received by NCDOT. Changes to the policy are noted in red in the attachment.
