Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg has requested that the Board approve a resolution in accordance with G.S. 20-187.2 awarding Lieutenant Jimmy Upton’s service side arm and badge to him for the sum of $1.00.  Lieutenant Upton who has a total of twenty-seven years of law enforcement service with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department serving as a Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputy, a Detective with the Narcotics Division, and as a Detective Lieutenant overseeing the operations of the Investigative Branch of the Sheriff’s Office will retire on January 1, 2025.  Lieutenant Upton served each assignment with upmost honor and integrity.
