A number of counties in North Carolina have formed American 250 NC Committees to plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States and North Carolina's integral role in that event. There is a $10,000 grant available through the State of North Carolina for the activities of the committee. The deadline has past for applying for the grant, but it is believed that the legislature will still honor any requests from committees that have been formed prior to April 10, 2025. A resolution forming a Rutherford County committee on the following page is presented for the Board’s consideration.
