Mr. Richard Lawson was appointed Rutherford County Revenue/Tax Department Director effective January 4, 2023 to a four year term in accordance with NCGS 105-294 (attached.) Director Lawson is a state-approved certified assessor. His current four-year term of office will expire January 4, 2027. The Board may wish to consider re-appointing Director Lawson to an additional four-year term.

Approve appointment of Richard Lawson as Director of the Rutherford County Tax Department, which position of Director shall include his appointment as Tax Collector pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. Section 105-349 and his appointment as County Assessor pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. Section 105-294. This appointment shall be for a four-year term to commence upon the expiration of his existing term on January 4, 2027.
