The Rutherford County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to listen to comments regarding the proposed Article II. Fire Code; Fire Marshal; and Outdoor Burning. This would be a new Article II of Chapter 6 of the Code for which the purpose is to adopt the state fire code, to codify the fire marshal’s office and to add provisions for restrictions on outdoor burning and a potential burning ban when conditions warrant. The Board acknowledged the first reading of the proposed ordinance at the June 1, 2026 meeting. Because of the nature of this ordinance, it cannot be adopted at the same meeting it is introduced. A copy of a resolution adopting the ordinance is attached.
