Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg requested that the Board approve a resolution (attached) in accordance with G.S. 20-187.2 awarding Corporal Shane Ruppe’s service side arm and badge to him for the sum of $1.00.  Corporal Ruppe began his law enforcement career with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department in November 2005 and is retiring November 1^st of 2026.   He has served as a sworn Deputy Sheriff with the Patrol Division, as an Investigator with the Criminal Investigative Division, as an Investigator with the Forensics Division, and as an Investigative Corporal overseeing the Sex Offender Registry and Conceal Carry Permit Division.  Corporal Ruppe has served with both honor and integrity in all positions held.
