A resolution (attached) approving An Ordinance Concerning the Fire Code, Fire Marshal, and Outdoor Burning to be a new Article II of Chapter 6 of the Code will be presented for the first reading at the June 1, 2026 meeting.
The purpose of this is to adopt the state fire code, to codify the fire marshal’s office and to add provisions for restrictions on outdoor burning and a potential burning ban when conditions warrant.
Because of the nature of this ordinance, it cannot be adopted the same meeting it is introduced, so June 1 will be for the “first reading”, to be followed by public hearing and potential adoption at the July 6 meeting if the Board elects to proceed.
