Rutherford County Transit has been honored with the 2026 NCPTA Rural Transit System of the Year for the third consecutive year. In 2024 Transit received the award for Transit System of the Year. In 2025 the recognition was awarded collectively to all Western North Carolina transit systems in acknowledgment of their heroic efforts in evacuation and recovery operations following Hurricane Helene.
