Sheriff Aaron Ellenburg requested that the Board approve a resolution (attached) in accordance with G.S. 20-187.2 awarding Corporal Jeffery Smith’s service side arm and badge to him for the sum of $1.00.  Corporal Smith began his law enforcement career with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department in March 2001 and is retiring October 11st of 2026.   He has served as a sworn Deputy Sheriff with the Patrol Division, as an Investigator with the Criminal Interdiction Team, Child Support Enforcement, and SRO experience in Elementary, Middle, and High School. Corporal Smith has served with both honor and integrity in all positions held.
