The next mandated eight year reappraisal is required to take place January 1, 2020. Rutherford County had planned an advanced reappraisal to be effective for January 1, 2016. Revenue Director Sherry Lavender discussed the postponement of the scheduled 2016 County-wide reappraisal with the Board at the May meeting. The reasons for the delay request are:
1. Recent implementation to a new tax software that will not be completed until Fall 2015.
2. Training of staff on new tax software regarding the reappraisal component which will not be immediately available pending a new release by the software firm.
3. Limited number of true value sales which are the only sales the Tax Assessor is allowed to utilize in valuing the real property within the county.
A resolution delaying the effective date of the next Rutherford County reappraisal is included for the Board's consideration.
